Sporting is ready to challenge Mumbai FC’s 4th spot on the table as this two face each other at PJN Stadium Fatorda on Sunday. Sporting come into this match after playing an exciting 1 – 1 draw in the Goan Derby against Salgaocar FC while Mumbai FC managed to hold on Mohun Bagan to a goalless draw at cooperage. Both teams will look to pocket 3 points from this important fixture.

“We have been playing quality football throughout” said the Sporting Head Coach Mateus Costa. He went on “Right from the first match we have displayed attack minded football, we go into the match with an objective to get those 3 points and nothing less.”

He further said “We need to get back to winning ways at home, we have been so close in two of the previous matches, this time I am confident we can pull this out.”

When quizzed about Mumbai FC, Mateus said “They are a good side, specially this year they have been solid back home. It is not going to be an easy match, we have done our home work and planned accordingly.”

However Mateus Costa accepted that conversion has been a slight concern, “There is too much for an individual to do, we are working on a couple of combinations but will use it when the time is right.”

When asked about how the plan going forward is Mateus said “A win tomorrow should put things in perspective as to how this season will shape up for us going forward. We cant loose any more points at home.”

He also added, “We are playing within the gap of two days, which also means some of my players might need rest. After this match we fly off to Kolkata which again will be a tough match.” He went on “The league is very demanding and that is why we try to maintain a good pool of players to choose from.”

The Mumbai FC coach Khalid Jamil said “This is a very important match for us, we have been very good back home. We need to carry forward the momentum away.”

Sporting will have the services of their defender Ravanan who can be back in action after serving the stipulated one match ban. The impressive performances of Marcus Mascarenhas and Ganesh Thakur in the previous match has also given Mateus Costa a larger pool to choose from. Over all its going to be an epic battle on Sunday between the Sporting attack and the Mumbai defence.
