Sporting Clube De Goa kick started their preseason with a warm up and fitness session early morning on Thursday at Miramar Beach, Panaji Goa. The defending champions of Goa Pro League will be looking at launching their title defense under Gaffer Mateus Costa for the upcoming season. After concluding a fantastic 2015-16 season which saw them win the Goa Pro League and finish 4th in the I-League, the Flaming Oranje are confident of defending their title back in Goa.
The Gaffer Mateus Costa speaking to media said “We have launched the pre-season with our focus on the Goa Pro League; this is our prime objective currently.”
He further added “We have a busy season ahead, in addition to Goa Pro League we will also be participating in the Durand Cup, so we have to keep our squad fit and free from injury. The pre-season is being done with that objective.
Speaking about the slump experienced at the start of previous season Gaffer mentioned “We will try to avoid such panic situations, last year we lost a few matches initially and took time to fight our way upwards. We want to avoid such situations this time around.”
Speaking about the team Coach Costa said “We have a strong squad this time, the players are looking forward to the league. The management also has been very supportive. We will go all out this season.”
