DSK Shivajians beat Sporting 3 – 1 at Balewadi stadium on Sunday. The DSK skipper Dipanda scored the opening goal (13′) while Douhou Pierre netted the next two (21′ & 32′). In the second half the Sporting defender Subashish Bose (73′) headed one back for the Goan side.

Sporting were the first to attack through Marcus who came close to putting the visitors ahead in the first minute after latching on to a Glan Martins cross. However after this, match completely swung in favour of DSk Shivajians. The home side made Sporting defense look ordinary as they breezed past them on several occasions. First goal came in at the 13th minute when DSK skipper Dipanda flew high up within a crowded Oranje box to head in a cross from Quero. Sporting tried to come back as they launched an offense through Glan and Mahmoud but lacked finishing at the other end. Dipanda came back to haunt Sporting defenders as in the 21st minute he set Douhou Pierre with a mouth-watering cross from outside the box, the Ivorian was never missing from such a close angle. After the second goal DSK started to build up pressure and take the attack right into Sporting’s half.

The last goal of second half came in once again through the Ivorian in the 32nd minute when he launched a counter along with Dipanda to his right and Quero to his left, making it a 3 versus 2 counter for the DSK. Douhou and Dipanda combined well to create a cross moment as the former managed to get better of Arindam making it 3 – 0 for the home side. Towards the closing stages Sporting has their best chance as Glan set up Victorino with a lofted cross but the latter headed it wide off target. The Sporting custodian Arindam also did well to make some amazing saves blocking at least two point blank shot from the home side. The score line stayed 3 – 0 at the half-time in favour of the Pune side.

Sporting came back in the second half with an intent. The Flaming Oranje attacked right from the kick off. Gaffer Mateus Costa introduced Densill Theobald in place of Glan Martins who quickly got into action. In the 50th minute Mahmoud made a dazzling run into the DSK box to send in a cross to Victorino Fernandes who managed to shoot but lacked direction. In the 73rd minute Rowllin Borges send in a perfect ball from the corner to find Subashish Bose who headed Sporting in to pull one back.

Sighting an opportunity Costa send in Sumit Passi for tiring Seriton Fernandes who did everything in his capacity to find the nets but couldn’t make the most of the passes he received from Densill and Mahmoud. Sporting managed to win a few set pieces towards the closing stages but once again lacked the finishing. With this win DSK Shivajians lift themselves to the 7th spot while Sporting stay put on 4th.
