Sporting has made their trip up the west coast to take on Mumbai FC this Saturday. Rooted at 4th position with 11 points in their kitty the Flaming Oranje will be looking to cut the gap between them and Bengaluru FC, who are placed 3rd with 15 points. Mumbai FC is currently 6th on the table with 9 points in hand.

“This is a very crucial match for us.” Said the Gaffer Mateus Costa. He went on “The league has shaped up very well, gap between the teams are very slim and every point makes a huge difference.”

“Such away matches are tricky, the home side has a strong record here we can’t lose our focus at this point. Yes we have beaten them back in Goa but these are different circumstances and we are aware about the same.” Said Costa.

Speaking about Mumbai FC Costa said “Without any doubts they have a fine said, the latest additions have been interesting too. They have a right mix of youth and experience which is crucial for leagues like this. We have seen them play and made our observations so will stick to what we are come here to do.”

When asked about the preparations for this match Costa said “Everyone is doing well in the training, like I have said earlier take a look at our matches, if you account for the chances created I am sure Sporting will be right up there. We have lacked finishing and it’s no fact to hide. I have discussed about the same with the boys and we are working on it. The first thing we wish to fix in this match is increase our conversion ratio.”

He added “I keep telling the boys; opportunity knocks only once, we have to make the most of it. At the end of everything it’s the number of goals we have scored that’s all what matters.”

Sporting will have a huge boost ahead of their match against Mumbai as their striker Victorino Fernandes and midfielder Mahmoud Al Amna has travelled with the team. However the worrying factor will be the fitness of Densill Theobald who is nursing an injury back here in Goa. “We do not want to take any risks, we have two important matches back home and he is a key component of our plan.” Said Costa.

The Mumbai FC head coach Khalid Jamil said “We have to forget what has happened in the past and look forward now. We must make a fresh start and Cooperage is the best place to do that. Our fans are always behind us right from the start of this season and I am hoping for the best.”

On Saturday both teams will go all out for the three points as a win here can very well define the direction of their movement on the table. For both coaches Mateus and Khalid this will be an important tick in their check list which they would not want to miss by any means.
