‘Get the first goal, control the game’ – Odafa Okolie

“I would love to win the league with Sporting” said Odafa Okolie. The skipper has had a mix of high and average performances in this season of I-League. The three spectacular goals scored by Odafa came in against some of the most difficult opponents. The first coming against East Bengal while the other two against Bengaluru FC.

Speaking to Sporting media Odafa said “The team has been playing well. Everyone is giving their 100% and the confidence levels are high, which is a good thing for our team.”

The skipper also said “It’s very important to improve our form at home, this Sunday we will try to get three points and it will also be good for us as we fly off after this. We have some difficult games ahead in the likes of Mohun Bagan and Mumbai FC away.”

‘It was a tough game, obviously we are a little disappointed because as a unit we felt we deserved more,’ said the Nigerian Goal Machine. “It was a good solid performance from the team but at the end of it all we couldn’t get the three points.”

When quizzed about the match against Mumbai FC the skipper said “It’s simple, we need to the get the first goal. Once that happens we can control the game.”

He further went on “No doubts it will be a tough match,’ Odafa said. ‘Mumbai have been a good team, they like to hold on to the ball. They are having a good run this season. Over all they are a good team with very good players.”
